From Fr. Kitsmiller

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Last week, I announced that I would be leaving Sacred Heart parish to become the rector of St. Joseph Cathedral. Bishop Brennan asked me to fill this position as the current rector, Fr. Mike Lumpe, was appointed the vice-rector of the college of the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus. I am sad to have to leave Sacred Heart and also St. John the Baptist parish because I have become fond of you all. I want to thank you for your kindness and support of the parish for my time at Sacred Heart. I know that God will continue to bless all of you.

I want also to let you know of my successor, Fr. Adam Streitenberger, who will become the Administrator, effective August 5, 2019. Fr. Streitenberger, from Waverly, Ohio, was ordained in 2007 for the Diocese of Columbus. Fr. Streitenberger has been both a parochial vicar and a pastor of our diocese. Just this past year, Fr. Streitenberger completed a licentiate in Sacred Theology with a focus on evangelization from Sacred Heart seminary in Detroit. Fr. Streitenberger will also serve Bishop Brennan as his Coordinator for Evangelization, in which he will work with various apostolates and ventures in the diocese, which advance our Catholic faith. Fr. Streitenberger will reside at St. Joseph Cathedral. He will, of course, take care of the administrative and pastoral needs of Sacred Heart parish. Although Fr. Streitenberger will only serve Sacred Heart and not St. John the Baptist parish, both parishes will continue to share the same staff for the foreseeable future. Please continue to contact the staff at the St. John the Baptist office.

Thank you again for all the love and support you have shown me these past two years. I’m sure our paths will cross again in the future.
