From Fr. Kitsmiller

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In today’s feast of the Ascension, the Church celebrates the end of Jesus’ earthly appearances after His Resurrection. This begins a new phase in God’s plan for salvation. Jesus told His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come to them on the Feast of Pentecost. From now on, our Lord Jesus works through His Church in a different way through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Lord is present to us through the Word of God proclaimed, the Church convoke, through the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist. In Jesus’ sacramental presence, He can be present throughout the world, in the tabernacles of churches, in distant lands through the Mass. Jesus, now, clothed in glory and at the right hand of the Father, continues to sacrifice and cleanse His Church but in a new way. This is a great blessing for us. One day, we hope to see it unveiled for us in the kingdom of heaven. Nevertheless, through the ministry of priest, Jesus feeds us with His body and blood. Last week, Bishop Brennan ordained four men to the priesthood for the Diocese of Columbus. This is a cause for rejoicing, because we have new ministers to carry on Jesus’ priesthood in our diocese. Let us continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood for our diocese and for the Church in general.

Have a blessed week!
