From Fr. Kitsmiller

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope you all have a blessed Memorial Day. Let us especially remember those American men and women who gave their lives in service to our country to protect our shores and our freedoms. May their sacrifices inspire us to build a more just and peaceful society and world. Our office will be closed for Memorial Day. Memorial Day ushers in the summer season. Many of you will be gone through vacations and travel. I hope it is a relaxing and refreshing time for you and your families. Don’t forget about the Church during these months and of course Mass in which God renews us through the body and blood of His Son, Jesus.

Mark Friday, June 28th, on your calendars. This is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the patronal feast of the parish. Bishop Brennan will be coming to celebrate Mass for us that evening at 6:00 p.m. After Mass, we will have a supper in Ryan Hall. More details to follow. I hope that you can make it.

The Bishop’s Annual Appeal has been underway for a few weeks now. This annual fundraiser is meant to supplement the budget of the Diocese, the local church, of which we are a member. Funds raised supplement education programs, such premarital preparation, our charitable outreach to the poor and needy, assistances to catholic schools, education for future priests and deacons and other offices and programs that support the mission of the local church. Our parish has a goal to raise $11, 639.88. That equates to roughly $110.00 per family. To date, $4,701.00 has been raised toward our parish goal with just eleven families participating so far. If you have not given, then I encourage you to do so. No gift is too small. If we all participate, we should make our parish goal. As always, I appreciate your generosity.

Have a blessed week!
