From Fr. Kitsmiller

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family this Sunday between Christmas and the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. Another aspect about the Incarnation of Christ is that God was part of a human family, like you and I. He had a mother who bore Him and an earthly father, St. Joseph, who help raise hHim and teach Him. God wishes to be in our families as well, to be at the center. We also have our extended family: aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins and in-laws. They, too, are precious in the eyes of God. They help us see the wider human family that we are also part of. May God bless all of your families, big and small, and know that you are part of God’s family. May Christ be the center of your lives.

Tuesday, January 1, 2019, is the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, the last day of the Christmas Octave and a Holy Day of Obligation for all Catholics. Please attend Mass on this special day when we honor Mary as the mother of Jesus who is God. We also pray for peace in the world. I don’t think there is a better way to start off the New Year. We have Mass at Sacred Heart at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, December 31st and at St. John the Baptist on Tuesday, January 1st at 10:00 a.m.

Happy New Year to all of you!
