From Fr. Lonzo

My brothers and sisters,

Bishop’s Annual Appeal:

The first week of May, we began the Bishop’s Annual Appeal; this year for our diocesan goal we have been asked to raise $9,443.42.

Last year, 40 families participated and we were able to exceed our goal by $5,355.00! This excess returned to us as a parish 100% (without diocesan assessment on parish income), and were used to help upgrade our security hardware on the doors of the church, a much needed project which also helped reduce the noise of the doors shutting.

This year, I ask once again that we strive to exceed our diocesan goal and would like to set an enhanced parish goal of $22,500.00. This enhanced goal will help pay to upgrade the interior lighting of the church. This is a project again much needed for our parish and is a project that will be visible to all parishioners.

I ask that you prayerfully consider a gift to this year’s Bishops Annual Appeal, knowing that every dollar raised over our diocesan goal will return to the parish and be utilized for this needed maintenance work and for capital improvements to our parish. I believe that if we are all able to work together as a parish, we will be able to reach our goal of $22,500.00. The goal may seem like a lot of money; however, if we could increase participation from 40 families to 50 families or more, and each family gives $450.00 ($45.00 per month), we will reach our goal. I know some may be able to give more than $450.00, others may not be able to give as much. Please know that no gift is too small and God is never outdone in generosity.

I ask that you prayerfully consider a gift to not only help local church and its mission, but also help continue to maintain our beautiful church. As a sign of good faith, I will make a personal $500.00 donation to this year’s Bishops Annual Appeal to help Sacred Heart reach and surpass its goal. Please join me in this endeavor and thank you for your generosity.

Have a great week!
