From Fr. Lonzo's Desk

My brothers and sisters, This weekend, Bishop Campbell with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has asked us to take up a special collection for those affected by Hurricane Matthew earlier this month.

This Tuesday, November 1st, is the Solemnity of All Saints, a holy day of obligation this year. We will celebrate this great feast day with Mass on Tuesday, November 1st, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart with the children of St. Joseph Montessori School and at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist. November, is also the traditional month in which we as Catholics remember our beloved dead. With this in mind at the doors of both parishes there will be a book throughout the month of November for you to add loved ones names, which will be remembered in prayer and Mass.

Finally, as we are so very close to Election Day, I would like to direct you to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website regarding Faithful Citizenship. This resource is helpful to us as Catholics in trying to navigate this complex political season while being mindful of our responsibility as faithful Catholics to engage in democracy and at the same time respect the beliefs of our Faith and also the exercise of properly formed conscience within the democratic process. Please visit the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website at for more information. Have a great week!
