April is Autism Awareness Month

As Catholics, we are called to welcome all persons with disabilities and during the month of April, there is a particular emphasis on persons with Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism is a developmental disability that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. “All persons with disabilities have gifts to contribute to the whole Church. When persons with disabilities are embraced, welcomed and invited to participate fully in all aspects of the parish community life, the Body of Christ is more complete.” ~ United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
