Final thoughts from Fr. Lonzo

My brothers and sisters,

A special thank you to ALL parishioners of both Sacred Heart and St. John the Baptist for your great generosity and affection this past week with receptions preparing for my new assignment at St. Paul in Westerville. Your outpouring of support as well as emotional words, allow me to reflect to see how God works through all of us; by this, I mean to say that despite this short time together, we as a people have grown in Faith, Hope, and Charity to continue to build up these two wonderful parishes in the center of Columbus. I truly appreciate your words and your gestures of the impact that I have had on your lives of Faith; but I also want you to know that your Faith and example has been an inspiration to me in my own life as a priest. It is always my hope to to leave a parish better than when I had arrived. It is my sincere hope that I have done that at both Sacred Heart and St. John the Baptist. I know it is hard to depart all of you today; but, I know that I am leaving you in good hands with Fr. Bob Kitsmiller, a pastoral, competent and kind priest. I ask that you please extend Fr. Kitsmiller the welcome you extended to me two years ago and that you come to know him.

This Tuesday, we celebrate the 4th of July, Independence Day! As we celebrate as a nation with cookouts, fireworks and friends; let us also be mindful of the great blessings of our freedoms in our country and that God may continue to bless our nation. Have a great week and safe 4th of July!

Thank you once again for your support, prayers and generosity!
