From Fr. Lonzo

My brothers and sisters,

Recently, a long-time parishioner mentioned that the parish, throughout the year in the envelope packets, have envelopes which are used to collect donations for those in need, or parish charities. At any rate, the parishioner noted that it doesn’t seem that we have donated that money in some time to charities. I looked into this further and found that a healthy amount had been collected over this past year or so and is designated for parish charities. So, this past week, in preparation for the season of Lent, I wrote letters from the parishioners of Sacred Heart and checks in the amount of $500.00 to four local Catholic charities. These charities are J.O.I.N. (the Joint Organization of Inner-city Needs) located here in Columbus, Holy Family Soup Kitchen on West Broad Street, Holy Rosary-St. John Community Kitchen on the near Eastside of Columbus, and to the St. Francis Center in rural Vinton County which serves one of the poorest areas in Ohio. I just wanted to share this information with you and to thank you for your generosity especially to those who are in need in our own community and diocese. Stay tuned as Lent approaches for a way in which to continue to help those in need through the Parish. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
